Shivangi Sarma of Assam and Khushi Dinesh of Karnataka bagged the third gold medal each in the swimming competition at the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 in Guwahati on Saturday.
Swadesh Mandal of West Bengal and Nina Venkatesh of Karnataka completed one-on-one doubles before dominating the boys under Srihari Nataraja-21 100m backstroke.
Dr. Zakir Hussain won four gold medals for Karnataka at the Aquatics Complex, including one for Anish S Gowda in the 1500m freestyle event, as the state continued its dramatic rise outside the top 10.
With 15 gold collections behind Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, he is now fifth in the list of medals.
Maharashtra tops the list with 49 gold in 179 medals while Haryana is struggling to get 40 gold in a total of 125 medals. Delhi ( gold) and Uttar Pradesh (બંધ) are locked in a competition for third place, with Karnataka playing through its swimmers.
The triple crown of Eastern state's top freestyler Shivangi Sarma on Saturday, with a win in the 21 under-21 400 freestyle girls, will help Assam touch a double-figure in terms of gold medals in the win. Assam is waiting to move up to the top 10 by the end of the day as more gold is likely to come out of the Gold Bowls competition late on Saturday night.
In Kho-Kho, Maharashtra's tally increased to 21 under-21 gold medals. The overall superiority of their teams was always evident on the mat and the score is well-reflected. Bonnie Mangakya of Rajasthan claimed gold in the 17-under-17kg weight-loss category, rejecting Balo Yalam of Arunachal Pradesh in a battle near 6kg.
Late in the evening, however, Marcio Tario won Arunachal Pradesh's second gold medal in the sport, topping the under-21 boy's event.

Haryana on Monday turned 12 golds in four days of the Khel India Youth Games in Guwahati to take Maharashtra to the top of the medal tally. With four golds in Kabaddi, three golds in Archery and Athletics, and one gold each in Cycling and Gymnastics, Haryana topped the list from Day 6 with 1 gold.
Maharashtra finished second out of 16 in just four golds on Monday. It has a total of 71 medals. Defending champion Maharashtra's under-21 gymnast Edit Ajit Dandekar and his 4x100m relay quartet served well, but they could only watch as they went to bat in the Haryana Games.
Haryana dominated kabaddi but was surprisingly carried on the wire by Himachal Pradesh in the women’s under-21 final. The hill state rallied with a six-point deficit at half-time to tie the score at 27-27 at the end of regulation time. Last year’s runner-Haryana had to dig through the deep depths of their store of experience to get a glimpse of home in extra time.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu stole the limelight in athletics, with an equally impressive five-gold show. Kerala's NC Soj was also affected, anchoring her state's U-21 4x100m relay team, collecting her third gold medal of the Games.
Three gold medals from Tamil Nadu came in the jump, by S Saran (men's U-21 long jump), Pavitra (women's U-21 pole vault), and Babita (women's U-21 triple jump). His gold has reached seven from the telly track and field, he is in fifth place with 8 gold from 25 medals. Third and fourth place is occupied by Delhi and Gujarat.
Haryana also dominated in archery, winning seven medals, including three golds. Himani Kumari, who lost a medal in Pune last year, won the women's under-21 title with an easy victory in the final.
